Catherine will give a talk about her curatorial practice and the CAC, and consider the role of the curators voice and narrative in her practice.

Catherine Hemelryk was born in Rugby, United Kingdom, and has been based in Vilnius, Lithuania, since 2005. She graduated from the Royal College of Art MA Curating Contemporary Art in 2004 after BA (hons) Fine Art from Newcastle University. She is a curator at the Contemporary Art Centre (CAC), Vilnius, and projects include 'Tales From the Travel Journal, vol. I' 2006, 'Extreme Crafts' 2007, 'An Exhibition in Five Chapters' 2007. She curates the Info Lab, a resource are on the ground floor of the CAC where she has instigated a series of artist interventions and a discussion group. She has worked freelance for various arts organisations including the Wellcome Trust & Science Museum, Whitechapel Art Gallery and St Mary's Hospital and maintains a freelance practice with projects coming up at Galerie Antje Wachs, Berlin, Hotel Mariakapel, Hoorn, and Magacin, Belgrade. She has also edited and contributed to various publications such as 'The Black Box' a set of 5 books and 4 poster inserts produced for the IX Baltic Triennial, Vilnius, 2005; 'On Mobility', Amsterdam, 2006; 'Omagiya', Bucharest, 2006, 'Olandu biuras', Vilnius. 2006 and 'Political Almanac', London, 2007. She has also given talks in 'Hinterland' Nottingham, 'Close Connections' Amsterdam and European Humanitites University, Vilnius amongst others. Catherine has continued her artistic practice and has collaborated with artists Jantine Wijnja, Melvin Moti and contributed to projects by Raimundas Malasauskas, and International Airport Montello.
